IUEC Sets April 2027 Dates for Global Safety Summit

The International Union of Elevator Constructors will hold its second Global Safety Summit in Las Vegas on April 27–28, 2027. The event is open to mechanics, apprentices, inspectors, contractors, manufacturers, regulators and other elevator-industry professionals.

IUEC says the summit will combine safety education, equipment exhibits and live demonstrations. Its event page points to international perspectives on hoistway protection, including Australian requirements and Canadian hoarding standards. Those are areas to watch as the detailed agenda develops; IUEC has not yet identified the individual sessions or speakers.

For mechanics and apprentices, the potential value is practical: seeing how other crews protect openings, organize work in the hoistway and use protective equipment. A conference presentation does not change the rules that apply on a Manitoba jobsite, but it may offer ideas worth discussing with a supervisor or safety committee.

IUEC says registration will open October 26, 2026. The early registration fee is $249 and is available through January. Anyone considering the trip should check the full cost of travel and accommodation separately.

The union says information about QEI-approved continuing-education sessions will be released with the agenda. No specific credit should be assumed until those details are published.
